You cannot access social housing through this scheme if you have not completed an application form and been accepted onto the housing register.
There are also some people who will not by law be eligible to join the housing register. These are:

Certain people who are subject to Immigration Control under the 1996 Asylum and Immigration Act
- Certain people from abroad who are not subject to immigration control but who are not habitually resident in the UK, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or the Republic of Ireland
Some people, who may be eligible for the scheme by law, may still be disqualified from the scheme if:
- People (including members of their household) have been guilty of unacceptable behaviour that makes them unsuitable to be a tenant.
Applications to the Durham Key Options scheme can be made by the submission of a fully completed Durham Key Options application form via the following methods:

- By downloading a paper form here and returning it to Durham Key Options
- By contacting the scheme partner operating in the area which you live- contact details can be found by clicking here
We currently award band A for Priority Transfers to enable a tenant of our partner landlords to give up a property in exceptionally high demand and in low turnover in that area and get a move to a property in lower demand. This priority enables landlords to make best use of housing stock. All partners will review the size and type of stock, in their own areas, that they will award this band for every 6 months.
