How to Apply to Durham Key Options

Property entitlement

You will only be eligible for properties that are suitable for the size of your family. The following table tells you how we normally decide on the number of bedrooms that you are eligible for. For cases where this table might not apply please contact a partner landlord:

What happens next?

When we have assessed your application we will write to tell you;

Your housing reference number (PIN),

  • The band your application has been placed in and your priority date (click here for more information on prioritising applications),
  • Your registration (application) date,
  • The number of bedrooms you are entitled to.

When you have received this information you will then be able to place bids on properties that are advertised.

Keeping us informed

You must tell us if there are any changes in your circumstances so we can re-assess your application.  Each year you will be sent a short renewal form in the post, you must complete and return this to us to remain on the housing register.

Please ensure you inform us if you change your contact details.  We will try to contact all successful applicants by phone or email within 24 hours of the bidding closing. If we can not contact you, you may lose an offer of a property.
